A David Song

Psalm 16:1-11

1-2  Keep me safe, O God,
I’ve run for dear life to You.
I say to GOD, “Be my Lord!”
Without You, nothing makes sense.

3  And these God-chosen lives all around-
what splendid friends they make!

4  Don’t just go shopping for a god.
Gods are not for sale.
I swear I’ll never treat god-names
like brand-names.

5-6  My choice is You, GOD, first and only.
And now I find I’m Your choice!
You set me up with a house and yard.
And then You made me Your heir!

7-8  The wise counsel God gives when I’m awake
is confirmed by my sleeping heart.
Day and night I’ll stick with God;
I’ve got a good thing going and I’m not letting go.

9-10  I’m happy from the inside out,
and from the outside in, I’m firmly formed.
You canceled my ticket to hell-
that’s not my destination!

11  Now You’ve got my feet on the life path,
all radiant from the shining of Your face.
Ever since You took my hand,
I’m on the right way.

GOD’S SPECIALTY IS

RAISING DEAD THINGS TO LIFE

AND MAKING IMPOSSIBLE

THINGS POSSIBLE.

Why are you downcast, O my soul?  Why so distrubed within me?

I choose to put my hope in You, O God, for I will yet praise You, my Savior and my God.  My soul is downcast within me; therefore I remember You! (Ps. 42:5-6).  In all my distress, you too are distressed, and the angel of Your presence saves me.  In Your love and mercy You redeem me.  You lift me up and carry me as You have done for Your children through all the days of old (Isa. 45:3).

Lord, help me not to fear, for You are with me; I need not be dismayed, for You are my God.  You will strengthen me and help me.  You will uphold me with Your righteous right hand (Isa. 41:10).

Praying for our Nation

Today, on this National Day of Prayer, I pray for all of God’s people.  I pray that His people, who are called by His name, will humble themselves and pray.  Seek His face and turn from their wicked ways-then He will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal our land.  I pray for the revival of God’s people in the nation, that they will be like Jesus to the people in their communities, being used of God to lead others ever one step closer to Him.  I ask God’s forgiveness for the nation’s sins of pride, prejudice, insensitivity to the needs and hurts of others.  I ask that You will bless the local and national spiritual and political leaders and guide them in their decision making.  We’re in the midst of being inundated with negativity and evil in the election process Lord, and I ask that You will lead us to nominate who You want to see lead us.  I pray for those that don’t know You Lord, and those that are suffering and alone.  Touch them.  Heal our nation Lord, bless us with Your favor and unconditional love.  Thank You for working in us, and for Your presence in my life.  In Jesus’ name, Amen

Praying

Thank You, Father for the incredible privilege of partnering with Jesus in the work of intercession.  Help me to stay alert and consistent as I pray for my brothers and sisters  in Christ.  Help me to be clear minded and self controlled as I stand in the gap for others, especially during these times.  Remind me that prayerlessness for others is a sin against You.  Help me be instant in prayer so that it becomes a way of life for me, as continuous as breathing.  In Jesus’ name,  Amen

Andrew Murray on Prayer

The bond that unites a man with his fellowman is no less real and close than that which unites him to God: one with them.  Grace renews not only our relationship with our fellow human beings, too.  We not only learn to say “my Father,” but also “our Father.”  It would be unnatural for the children of a family to always meet their father separately, never expressing their desires or their love jointly.

Believers are not only members of one family, but of one body.  Just as each member of the body depends on the other, the extent to which the Spirit can dwell in the body depends on the union and cooperation of everyone.  Christians cannot reach the full blessing God is ready to bestow through His Spirit until they seek and receive it in fellowship with each other.  It was to the 120 praying together in total agreement under the same roof that the Spirit came from the throne of the glorified Lord.  In the same way, it is in the union and fellowship of believers that the Spirit can manifest His full power.

GOD’S MOTIVATION FOR SURFACING

THE DESTRUCTIVE PARTS OF US IS SO

WE WILL FACE THEM AND COOPERATE

AS HE UPROOTS AND HEALS THEM.

O Lord, have mercy on me.  Heal me, for I have sinned against You (Ps. 41:4).

See how distressed I am!  I am in torment within, and in my heart I am disturbed, for I have been most rebellious.  Outside, the sword bereaves; inside, there is only death (Lam. 1:20).  But thank You that I can be assured You will never forsake one of Your children crying out in agony over sin.

Lord God, lift me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire.  Set my feet on a rock and give me a firm place to stand.  Put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to my God!  Blessed is the one who makes the Lord his trust (Ps. 40:2-4).

THE WAY WE BEHAVE

OVERWHELMINGLY FLOWS

FROM WHAT WE

DEEPLY BELIEVE.

I am so grateful that my own heavenly Father is the Sovereign Lord who made the heavens and the earth by His great power and outstretched arm.  Nothing is too hard for You! (Jer. 32:17).

Truly, You have released me to resurrection life!  For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God.  I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me.  The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me (Gal. 2:19-20).

Lord, I belong to Christ Jesus!  Therefore I have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires (Gal. 5:24).  Help me live in the reality of this liberating crucifixion.

Prayer for Faith

Dear Heavenly Father,  Bless me with faith that can move mountains.  May I not be tempted to forget Your power.  May I not be tempted to forget Your love.  May my mind not stray to the might of the destroyer but remember instead the might of the Lord.  Show me Father.  I know You will have the last word, the final say.  And I won’t worry.  You will redeem me.  I will resurrect.  You will bring forth new life from all apparent death.  You create from what the darkness has destroyed, for Your power is infinite, Your forgiveness total, Your mercy complete.  I might fall, but I will not remain down for my God is with me.  You will lift me up.  You will create a new day.  You will bring me home.  Thank You Father.  Amen

Fasting

Yesterday my 1 Peter 3 online group fasted and prayed again.  I did this a few weeks ago and it was amazing.  This time was a struggle in many different ways.  I woke up hungry, and in two hours I had fixed 3 breakfasts and packed 2 lunches.  My husband was home sick with the flu.  I sat down to write a prayer and my pen died.  I started to pray and a telemarketer called twice.  I had an annoying ringing in my ears that would not stop.  Ironically it is gone today!  And I just didn’t feel well.  My stomach hurt, I was queasy and light headed to boot!  I was under attack, both physically and mentally.  But I persevered and called on the Lord for my strength, and He provided.  He sustained me all day, until around 8:40 last night when I was able to eat.  I know that satan was scared of all the praying I was doing, and that’s why he was trying to pull me away.  It was hard yesterday, and I really struggled.  I was surprised to get online last night and find messages from several others in the group who struggled as well.  It is proof that there’s power in prayer.  I prayed for everyone that I prayed for last time, and added 8 more to the list.  I really prayed for a breakthrough in my family.  In the afternoon I got the chance to just sit and listen for Him after I prayed.  That was hard for me because of the distractions, and I just kept interjecting with more prayers and thoughts.  What I got from it was the number 6, and I kept hearing/singing a song we sang at church last week called On My Cross by Ffh.  Another song that was playing both times I got in the car to pick up my kids was Casting Crowns  East to West.  I thought both of the songs reflect working on me spiritually, and I was unsure what the number 6 meant.  A friend from 1 Peter 3 did some research on the number 6, and it is really interesting.  I’m having trouble uploading it, so I’ll have to post on that later.  The overall impression of yesterday’s fast was Faith, Obedience and Discipline.  God is at work, and He’s changing me too.  More later on the fast and meaning of number 6.

President anyone?!

Please excuse me as I jump right off my soapbox before I even share my frustrations with you about the presidential candidates.  I just feel the need to pray for our country.

Dear God,

I come to You now to celebrate this nation and surrender its destiny to You.  Thank you for giving us this country.  I thank You and ask You to bless the souls of those who founded this nation, this ONE NATION UNDER GOD.  Fill us with Your love and righteousness, so that we can bring healing to our country.  May we be cleansed of all our destructive thoughts.  May judgement of others, such as bigotry, racism, and intolerance be taken from us, wash us clean, O Lord.  Let our minds be filled with thoughts of You, and Your unconditional love and acceptance for all peoples.  May you forgive us, this nation, of our transgressions, and bless us.  Help us to learn from our mistakes.  Use us for Your good.  Turn our lives into instruments of resurrection, that the sins of our fathers might be reversed through us.  May the beauty of this land burst forth in the hearts of the people.  May the dreams of our forefathers be realized in us, so that we might live in honesty, integrity, and excellence with our neighbors.  Make our country a light for all nations, a light of hope, goodness, peace and freedom.  Cast darkness and violence out of our midst Dear Lord.  May hatred no longer grow here.  May we all feel Your grace upon us, and the spirit of truth in our hearts.  May we be forgiven, repaired and renewed My Lord.  May You bless our children.  May You bless our government leaders.  O Lord, please bless America.
