It started about two hours ago, right as we had to go pick up Brooke from school. Snow and freezing rain! I was going through the intersection and someone, a dark haired lady in a maroon altima with license plate #575* to be exact, ran through her red light and came right at me into my lane of traffic. Did I mention the snow and freezing rain? Yeah, not a good mix. Tires screeching, me swerving into the other lane to avoid her, and only the hand of God was in between us. Then she sped off, leaving me in shock that we actually didn’t hit. Thank You Lord for saving us!

Thankful Thursday
Iris is hosting Thankful Thursday again, so please go visit her. You’ll leave remembering how blessed you truly are! Here’s what I’m thankful for this week.
God’s grace and love is sufficient for me. No matter what I’m feeling, He is feeling it with me. When I feel like I can’t, He carries me throught it.
Brian and Brooke took a ski trip together and had a wonderful daddy & daughter day. (No broken bones was a plus too!)
Zach has a good group of friends and is actively attending bible club now.
Matthew is the light of my day. He just comes up and gives me a hug or kiss right when I need it!
More snow and ice in the forecast for tonight, maybe we’ll get a 2 hour delay and sleep in…. Maybe?
God is at work in my family, and He’s making visible changes. I am so blessed.
Grieving
Have you ever lost something that you didn’t even know you had? Yet you are sad and grieve for that loss like it was your greatest treasure? That’s what I’m feeling right now, sad for not knowing it was there, and then for losing it before I even knew I wanted it. But I didn’t really want it, and that makes me even sadder. Because had I known, then I would have wanted and loved it, but I didn’t even have the chance. This is just the moment that I’m in and I know it doesn’t make sense. I can’t even make sense of it really.
Sunday Scripture 12
Proverbs 16:1 To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue. 2 All of a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord. 3 Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.
As Brooke and I head out to the first dance competition of the season, we always pray that she uses her talents to glorify God and witness to others the love of Jesus Christ. I think that’s something we should all strive to do. Have a blessed Sunday.
Random thoughts
Tuesday night and Wednesday morning we were pelted with freezing rain and ice, so we had hoped for a 2 hour delay in school, but no such luck. I just have a problem with scraping the ice off of my car, while little pellets of ice hit me in the head, to drive my kids to school. Apparently the school board isn’t as concerned as I am. It wasn’t better at the end of the day picking them up either because it had continued to sleet most of the day. I took a few pictures to share with you, and obviously that didn’t happen.
Yesterday was Valentine’s day. I hope everyone had a great one, and felt totally loved. I fixed a great meal for everyone, and even dessert that was red to match the theme. It was the best meal I’ve made since Thanksgiving, and it was a whole lot less work. That made it even better! It was pork tenderloin and roasted veggies, angel food cake with strawberries, glaze and whipped topping. Again, I took pictures to post, and it hasn’t happened.
Today Brian and Brooke are together on a ski trip (a school field trip). This was one event that I passed on to Dad to do, as I really didn’t want to be in traction for the next 6 weeks! Field trips sure have changed since I was a kid!
I talked to Brian earlier and they both still had all bones intact. He was on the lift watching Brooke go down. I’m sad sitting here knowing that I’m missing such a big event with her! I took a picture this morning, and sent the camera with instructions for them to take lots, LOTS of pictures. (Do you see a theme here with pictures? I’m starting to think I should change the title of this post to something like, ” I took pictures but didn’t post them!) Well, I can just imagine her and all her friends laughing ang having a blast together. She deserves it too. I’ve been a little worried about her. She’s been complaining of a headache and stomachache a lot lately, and I’ve been trying to get out of her what’s bothering her. The typical pre-teen, she likes to keep things to herself. She told me that she’s being bullied by someone at school, someone who we’ve had problems with in the past. It hurts me to think about the pain she’s felt, and kept it to herself because she knew I would call the school to try and fix it, but then she would be a tattletale. Brian and I both talked to her, and yesterday she nicely asked the girl to stop. We’ll see what happens next. I’m praying about it.
That’s about all the random thoughts I have for now. Maybe I’ll post some pictures soon….
“Moore” Monday #11
WE ARE WISE TO REMIND ONE ANOTHER
NEVER TO FORGET WHO
WE ARE AND NEVER TO
FORGET WHO WE’RE NOT.
Father, Your Word says You will break down stubborn pride and make the sky above the proud like iron and the ground beneath him like bronze (Lev. 26:19).
Lor, Your Word is drawing a vivid picture of the arrogant life. Prayers lifted to heaven will seem to hit a ceiling of iron, and life beneath the feet will be hard.
Help me to be humble before You, Lord, because the life of the proud will eventually and undoubtedly become very hard.
My Savior and Redeemer, help me to take Your yoke upon Me and learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart, and I will find rest for my soul (Matthew 11:29).
From Beth Moore, Praying God’s Word Day by Day
Sunday Scripture 11
Psalm 8:1-9
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens.
From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise
because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.
When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him,
the son of man that you care for him?
You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings
and crowned him with glory and honor.
You made him ruler over the works of your hands;
you put everything under his feet:
all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,
the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,
all that swim the paths of the seas.
O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
90 Day Bible Reading-Psalms 1-25
The book of Psalms covers many different emotions and prayers over a thousand year period. God is worthy of praise and the wise will trust Him. Some key verses include.. Ps. 8:1 “how majestic is your name in all the earth!” Ps. 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God.” and one that most people know is Ps. 23:1-6 The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
90 Day Bible Reading-Nehemiah, Esther, & Job
Nehemiah follows along closely with Ezra in the restoration of the temple, community, Jerusalem, and the covenant. It shows the many ways that God was at work to restore the people of Israel to their land. Allegiance was made to God, and the Jews were restored. God never forsakes, and nothing is impossible for Him.
Esther was a Jew who heard of the plan of Haman, the chief administrator to the Persian King, which was to kill the Jews. She approached the king and told him of the plan, hiding the fact that she herself was a Jew. The king listened to her, and Haman was put to death. Esther was very brave for approaching the king. God used her to save His people.
Job is a great read when you’re feeling down and out. Job suffered the loss of everything at the hand of satan, but he never rebuked God. Satan took everything but his life, and Job maintained his innocence to his 3 friends who came to comfort him. They didn’t believe that Job was innocent. Why would God take it all away? Just confess your sins and repent! But Job stayed firm and steadfast, even questioning God as to why he was suffering so much. God answered him in a roundabout way, showing him all He’d created, and the greatness of it all. Job demonstrated his righteousness and God heaped His blessings upon him for the rest of his life.
Thankful Thursday
Today I spent a little over 18 hours fasting and praying, so this edition of Thankful Thursday will be more spiritual.
1. I’m thankful that the Word of God sustained me today as I fasted and prayed.
2. I’m thankful that the prayer time today transformed me.
3. Everything I’ve ever wanted in my life can be found in God.
4. I’m thankful that my enemy is defeated because of what was done for me on the cross.
5. I’m thankful that “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).
6. I’m thankful for peace, patience, endurance, comfort, salvation, gentleness, love, joy, faithfulness, grace, mercy, kindness, truth, healing, protection, guidance, wisdom, discernment, worship, forgiveness, Godly role models and mentors, reconciliation, restoration, glory, humility, knowledge and did I say forgiveness…
