Thankful Thursday

ttbutton.jpg

Iris is hosting Thankful Thursday again, so please go visit her.  You’ll leave remembering how blessed  you truly are!  Here’s what I’m thankful for this week.

God’s grace and love is sufficient for me.  No matter what I’m feeling, He is feeling it with me.  When I feel like I can’t, He carries me throught it.

Brian and Brooke took a ski trip together and had a wonderful daddy & daughter day.  (No broken bones was a plus too!)

Zach has a good group of friends and is actively attending bible club now.

Matthew is the light of my day.  He just comes up and gives me a hug or kiss right when I need it!

More snow and ice in the forecast for tonight, maybe we’ll get a 2 hour delay and sleep in….  Maybe?

God is at work in my family, and He’s making visible changes.  I am so blessed.

Thankful Thursday

Today I spent a little over 18 hours fasting and praying, so this edition of Thankful Thursday will be more spiritual.

1.  I’m thankful that the Word of God sustained me today as I fasted and prayed.

2.  I’m thankful that the prayer time today transformed me.

3.  Everything I’ve ever wanted in my life can be found in God.

4.  I’m thankful that my enemy is defeated because of what was done for me on the cross.

5.  I’m thankful that “I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20).

6.  I’m thankful for peace, patience, endurance, comfort, salvation, gentleness, love, joy, faithfulness, grace, mercy, kindness, truth, healing, protection, guidance, wisdom, discernment, worship, forgiveness, Godly role models and mentors, reconciliation, restoration, glory, humility, knowledge and did I say forgiveness…

Thankful Thursday

ttbutton.jpg  Another week is flying by in a frenzy of activities, both good and bad.  It makes me remember how long the weeks seemed when I was a child.  Where does the time go?  Anyway, still have plenty to be thankful for, so here’s my list.

  • Most of my house is clean today.  That will soon change because the kids are now home, but it will be documented here!
  • I was able to see my parents on Saturday when they came up for my birthday lunch, and again yesterday at a funeral.  Not a great place, but it was an awesome funeral.  See previous post.  I will see them again on Saturday because Brooke is dancing and they’re coming to watch.  We went from one time in 9 weeks, to 3 in 1 week!
  • I’m saving money thanks to money saving mom!  I’ve only been “big” grocery shopping one time this month, and the rest has been for weekly stuff like milk, bread…and that one ice cream night!  I took an inventory of my pantry and freezer, and truly think we could live for a month on just that stuff alone.  I can’t wait to tally up my numbers to see the savings.
  • It’s supposed to be single digit temps in the morning, so we might, might, have a 2 hour delay!  I’m trying to be positive about freezing, and could really use the sleep!

Thankful Thursday

ttbutton.jpgI’m thankful for the health of my family, as so many that are around us are suffering with illness.

I’m thankful for the warm house that shields me from the arctic air that’s on it’s way here.

The beautiful stillness that I discovered when I opened the door this morning and saw the snow.

Toes!  I guess I have a thing for toes, baby toes that is.  And my four year old still has those sweet toes.  He’s sitting in the chair with me, still in his PJ’s and bare feet.  I love his toes, and the way he works his feet around, hardly ever still, just like his daddy.

My oldest son got a new puppy Monday night, and I’m thankful that he’s doing very well with the clicker training and housebreaking.  He’s also very cute, and loves to cuddle!

My daughter is growing more mature every day, and quick to apologize when she’s said something hurtful.  She’s beautiful!

Tomorrow is my birthday, so I’m thankful that God saw fit in His plan to let me have another year.  Also thankful my parents are going to come up and visit, then we’ll go out to eat on Saturday.  I don’t have to cook!!!!  That’s always a perk!  I’m not off the hook for tonight though, so I have to go make the meatloaf now.

Thankful Thursday

Another time to share my thankfulness with others.

1.  I am thankful for my parents, who I can call and talk to about anything, and know they’re praying for me.  They make me feel so loved!

2.  I’m thankful to all the frugal moms out there whose blogs are teaching me how to stretch my dollar, and save on groceries.

3.  I’m thankful for my 90 day journey in the bible, because I know God is moving hearts.

4.  I’m thankful for my friend Shannon, who forced me to work out last night for an hour.  I feel good!

5.  I’m thankful for my crock pot which I’ve used 3 times this week.  It sure beats standing over a stove!

6.  I’m thankful for dark chocolate and caffeine free diet coke.

7.  I’m thankful for the morning drive to school with my daughter.  It’s calm, and a good time to talk and listen.  It also seems like one of the few times of the day that I don’t “annoy her, or trash her life.”

8.  I’m thankful God has given me one more day to tell everyone how much I love them.  Thank You God!

Thankful Thursday

ttbutton.jpgIt’s time to sit down and document my thankfulness this week.

I’m thankful that Christmas is over, and things have slowed down for us.  We’ve actually spent days in our jammies, snuggling and watching movies.  It’s been wonderful!

I’m thankful that we are blessed as a family, and we have a warm home to stay in when it is so very cold outside.

I’m thankful for my husband, and his hard work to provide for our family.

I’m thankful for this new 90 day bible reading journey I am embarking on, and looking forward to the many blessings it will bring.

I’m thankful for my bloggy friends, whom I may never meet, but who encourage me so much.

I’m thankful that my husband came home with a smile on his face tonight, and is in a good mood after work.

I’m thankful for the beautiful living room I’m sitting in, with new furniture and harvest brown walls.  It’s so cozy and inviting, and a great place to read the bible.

And I’m thankful that it’s Thursday, and I had the time to share this with you.  Hope your day is wonderful.  Goodnight

Thursday Thanks Tank

Thanks Tank  This is supposed to be a weekly installment, but I seem to be lagging.  I’m making the effort tonight, and that’s big, not because I don’t have anything to be thankful for, but because I am struggling.  Struggling with my own thoughts and emotions.  So that’s why this is good Pam.  I need to focus on the good things.  Here goes…

Today I am thankful for

1. My baby Boo is feeling better tonight, and she had a good day of rest and relaxation.

2.  My Zach got a haircut last night, and he looks so handsome.  He’s been growing it and opposed to getting it cut, but daddy said he should go.  It was one of those things that I chose not to pick a battle over, because I thought he was hansome either way.  But now I can see his eyes better, and he’s the only one with my green eyes!

3.  My Matthew is my Kissaroo.  He loves to hug, cuddle and smooch me, so I’m trying to relish that for the time being.  Because I know it won’t last long.

4.  The little bit of snow that we had is still beautiful and glistening white today.  It shimmers on the tree branches.

5.  Fast Food.  My meal plan for this week included a few casseroles, which apparently most of my family dislikes.  After two days of snarled noses, tonight I went on strike and we had fast food.

6.  God and his healing words spoken at just the right time.

7.  A very nice talk with my parents last night on the phone.  It’s been too long since we’ve seen each other, but I always feel the love and prayers from them.  Even if I was a terrible teen!

8.  Freshly vacuumed floors, and mopped up muddy doggie paw prints from the kitchen.

9.  Bedtime stories.  In December, our stories are about Jesus, and it feels so good to have Matthew talk to me about Joseph.  He remembers something from sunday school, and shared it with me.  It was so touching.  So sweet.

10.  The Advent wreath and readings have been insightful and inspiring.  We even made it through tonight’s without any disruptions.

So, I made it through, and could have actually gone on farther.  God Bless You.

Turkey

trimmings I have spent some time reading the FAQ and the forums, and see that I am not the only one encountering problems uploading my pictures.  I found a few tips , and will now try them out.  I so want you to see my turkey!

Turkey

)food  Wow…lots of work, blood, sweat and tears later.  I can see them, and sure hope you can too.  Just looking at the pictures has made me very hungry.  Please excuse me while I go eat some left overs!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have been trying for a few hours now to upload some food photos, and I have come to the conclusion that I am computer illiterate.  The only thing that I can accomplish is uploading the full photo.  It seems everyone who wants to do that on purpose, has trouble with only a thumbnail coming up.  I’ve tried, but now I need sleep.  In less than 4 hours I’ll be out in the cold for Black Friday.  Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I’ll try to figure out the uploading stuff later today, and let you know how my first turkey was!

Thursday Thanks

Sometimes it’s hard to get up and out of the mire of daily life and hassles, but when you focus on being thankful, your whole outlook changes.  I learned this valuable lesson from Pam over at Without Fear. So Pam, I love your blog because it inspires me!

Here’s what I am thankful for right now…

1.  Praise be to God, and his grace, mercy and love for me.  I don’t always feel worthy, but He says I am!

2.  My warm and cozy home that protects me from the elements.  I pray for those people who are out on the streets without a place to call home.

3.  My family is healthy.  That is a big one, because we have all kinds of bad things going around in the school system right now.

4.  The chance to touch others’ lives with prayer, because it is such a simple thing for me to do, but it has a tremendous impact.

5.  My friends and family, because I know they are praying for me.

6.  My husband, because I know in my heart that God placed us in the same location for a reason.  We are meant to be together, and in his own way, he makes me strive to be a better person.  I love him.

7.  Fall is my favorite season.  The spring and summer were so dry here, and I wondered what that would do to the fall colors.  Well, God has taken out his paint and brushes, and the canvas before me is a glorious display of red, yellow, golden, and orange.  I love it because everywhere I look I can see God!

8.  The whole daylight savings time is something that this Indiana girl is just not used to, and frankly I struggle with it for about 3 months.  So I really thought about this one.  I am thankful for the time change because I can see the sunrise on my way home from dropping my dd off at school.  We started the school year off by sharing the sunrise together, and then had a few weeks where it was dark when we left our house.  Now we can share the splendor of the sky together again.

9.  My recent motivation to take control of the clutter and get organized is still here.  I am sticking with it, and seeing results.  My kitchen sink is shining Flylady!

10.  Last, but not least, I am thankful for the wonderful women who minister to me from their blogs.  We may never meet one another in person, but I consider you all my friends.

If you’re inspired to follow suit with a Thursday Thanks Tank, grab the button and go see Pam to let her know.
