90 Day Bible Reading-Proverbs

Proverbs is a book about wisdom.  God is wise, and He wants us to be wise too.  He will direct the path of those who trust and seek Him, and walk in faithful obedience.  Reading through it, you might find one verse that seemingly contradicts another.  In reality, it applies to different situations that you might encounter.  An example is Proverbs 26:4-5.  v4:  “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself.”  v5:  “Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.”  Don’t, then Do?  Well, the wise person knows what to do in which situation.  How do we get wise?  STAY IN HIS WORD!!  I’ve noticed His presence so much since I’ve been doing this 90 day reading.  He will speak to You!~  Try it.

GOD CAN DO WHAT HE

SAYS HE CAN DO PRECISELY

BECAUSE HE IS WHO HE

SAYS HE IS.

Lord God, help me to trust in Your unfailing love.  Cause my heart to rejoice in Your salvation.  Help me to sing to You, Lord, for You have been good to me!  (Ps. 13:5-6).

The earth is filled with Your love, O Lord!  Teach me Your decrees (Ps. 119:64).  May Your unfailing love be my comfort, according to Your promise to Your servant (Ps. 119:76).

O God, help me to meditate on Your unfailing love! (Ps. 48:9).  Help me not to have the sin of unbelief after all You’ve done to tell me You love me, after all You’ve done, Lord, to demonstrate Your love for me.

Fasting

Yesterday my 1 Peter 3 online group fasted and prayed again.  I did this a few weeks ago and it was amazing.  This time was a struggle in many different ways.  I woke up hungry, and in two hours I had fixed 3 breakfasts and packed 2 lunches.  My husband was home sick with the flu.  I sat down to write a prayer and my pen died.  I started to pray and a telemarketer called twice.  I had an annoying ringing in my ears that would not stop.  Ironically it is gone today!  And I just didn’t feel well.  My stomach hurt, I was queasy and light headed to boot!  I was under attack, both physically and mentally.  But I persevered and called on the Lord for my strength, and He provided.  He sustained me all day, until around 8:40 last night when I was able to eat.  I know that satan was scared of all the praying I was doing, and that’s why he was trying to pull me away.  It was hard yesterday, and I really struggled.  I was surprised to get online last night and find messages from several others in the group who struggled as well.  It is proof that there’s power in prayer.  I prayed for everyone that I prayed for last time, and added 8 more to the list.  I really prayed for a breakthrough in my family.  In the afternoon I got the chance to just sit and listen for Him after I prayed.  That was hard for me because of the distractions, and I just kept interjecting with more prayers and thoughts.  What I got from it was the number 6, and I kept hearing/singing a song we sang at church last week called On My Cross by Ffh.  Another song that was playing both times I got in the car to pick up my kids was Casting Crowns  East to West.  I thought both of the songs reflect working on me spiritually, and I was unsure what the number 6 meant.  A friend from 1 Peter 3 did some research on the number 6, and it is really interesting.  I’m having trouble uploading it, so I’ll have to post on that later.  The overall impression of yesterday’s fast was Faith, Obedience and Discipline.  God is at work, and He’s changing me too.  More later on the fast and meaning of number 6.

Instant Gratification

We complain about the cross we bear but don’ t realize it is preparing us for the dip in the road ahead that God can see and we can’t.
Whatever your cross, whatever your pain,
there will always be sunshine, after the rain.
Perhaps you may stumble, perhaps even fall;
But God’s always ready, to answer your call.
He knows every heartache, He sees every tear,
a word from His lips, can calm every fear.
Your sorrows may linger, throughout the night,
But suddenly vanish, by dawn’s early light.
The Savior is waiting, somewhere above,
to give you His grace, and send you His love.
God promises a safe landing, not a calm passage.
I’ve been reminded so much lately that God never promised my cross wouldn’t be heavy, but He has promised me the victory and that I would not walk alone. I hope this makes you stop and think, and cause your lips to praise Him even if you are in the valley or in the midst of a raging storm. You are not alone.

Thankful Thursday

Iris is hosting Thankful Thursday again, so please go visit her.  You’ll leave remembering how blessed  you truly are!  Here’s what I’m thankful for this week.

God’s grace and love is sufficient for me.  No matter what I’m feeling, He is feeling it with me.  When I feel like I can’t, He carries me throught it.

Brian and Brooke took a ski trip together and had a wonderful daddy & daughter day.  (No broken bones was a plus too!)

Zach has a good group of friends and is actively attending bible club now.

Matthew is the light of my day.  He just comes up and gives me a hug or kiss right when I need it!

More snow and ice in the forecast for tonight, maybe we’ll get a 2 hour delay and sleep in….  Maybe?

God is at work in my family, and He’s making visible changes.  I am so blessed.

Sunday Scripture 12

sunday-scripture32.jpg

Proverbs 16:1  To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the Lord comes the reply of the tongue.  2 All of a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the Lord.  3  Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

As Brooke and I head out to the first dance competition of the season, we always pray that she uses her talents to glorify God and witness to others the love of Jesus Christ.  I think that’s something we should all strive to do.  Have a blessed Sunday.

WE ARE WISE TO REMIND ONE ANOTHER

NEVER TO FORGET WHO

WE ARE AND NEVER TO

FORGET WHO WE’RE NOT.

Father, Your Word says You will break down stubborn pride and make the sky above the proud like iron and the ground beneath him like bronze (Lev. 26:19).

Lor, Your Word is drawing a vivid picture of the arrogant life.  Prayers lifted to heaven will seem to hit a ceiling of iron, and life beneath the feet will be hard.

Help me to be humble before You, Lord, because the life of the proud will eventually and undoubtedly become very hard.

My Savior and Redeemer, help me to take Your yoke upon Me and learn from You, for You are gentle and humble in heart, and I will find rest for my soul (Matthew 11:29).

Sunday Scripture 11

Psalm 8:1-9

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

You have set your glory above the heavens.

From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise

because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger.

When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,

the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him,

the son of man that you care for him?

You made him a little lower than the heavenly beings

and crowned him with glory and honor.

You made him ruler over the works of your hands;

you put everything under his feet:

all flocks and herds, and the beasts of the field,

the birds of the air, and the fish of the sea,

all that swim the paths of the seas.

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!

90 Day Bible Reading-Psalms 1-25

The book of Psalms covers many different emotions and prayers over a thousand year period.  God is worthy of praise and the wise will trust Him.  Some key verses include.. Ps. 8:1  “how majestic is your name in all the earth!”  Ps. 19:1 “The heavens declare the glory of God.”  and one that most people know is Ps. 23:1-6  The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.  He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul.  He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.  Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me.  You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.  You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.  Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
