IF WE CAN COME UP WITH A GOD

WE CAN FULLY EXPLAIN, WE HAVE

COME UP WITH A DIFFERENT GOD

THAN THE BIBLE’S.

Yours, my Lord, is the greatness and the
power and the glory and the majesty and the
splendor, for everything in heaven and earth is
Yours.
Yours, my own heavenly Father, is the
kingdom, and You are exalted as head above all
(1 Chron. 29:11).
Lord, I know that You are great-greater
than all gods.  You do whatever pleases You in
the heavens and on the earth, in the seas and all
their depths (Ps. 135:5).
Yet although You are sovereign and do
what You please, You are righteous in all Your
ways.  You are loving toward all You have made
(Ps. 145:7).

 GOD’S NEW TESTAMENT MATH

SPECIALIZES IN ADDITION

AND MULTIPLICATION, NOT

SUBTRACTION AND DIVISION.

I know, Father, according to Your Word,
that if I judge others, I too will be judged.  With
the same measure I use, it will be measured to
me (Matt. 7:1-2).
When I want so badly to judge or comdemn
or refuse forgiveness to another, I can
hear Your Word speak to my heart, saying,
“If you are without sin, be the first to throw a
stone at them” (John 8:7).
Help me to speak and act as those who
are going to be judged by the law that gives
freedom, because judgment without mercy will
be shown to anyone who has not been merciful
toward others.  Mercy triumphs over judgment!
(James 2:12-13).

IF OUR MINDS WOULD ABSORB THAT

WE ARE ACCEPTED BY GOD IN CHRIST,

OUR CHOICES AND BEHAVIORS WOULD

BE PROFOUNDLY AFFECTED.

Lord, I am so grateful to be one of Your
chosen people, part of a royal priesthood, a
holy nation, a people belonging to You, God,
that I may declare the praises of You who
called me out of darkness into Your wonderful
light (1 Peter 2:9).

You pose the question in Your Word,
“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast
and have no compassion on the child she has
borne?”  You assure me that though she may
forget, You will absolutely never forget me!  You
have engraved me on the palms of Your hands
(Isa. 49:15-16).

For the sake of Your great name, You will
not reject Your people.  You have been pleased
to make me Your own (1 Sam. 12:22).

Since I was working yesterday, I had to wait to post this.  I didn’t want to put it off until next week.

GOD CREATES AND ACTIVATES A

NAGGING DISSATISFACTION IS US FOR

AN EXCELLENT REASON-HE WANTS

US TO COME TO REPENTANCE.

Father, Your Word promises me that the
one who conceals his sins does not prosper, but
whoever confesses and renounces them finds
mercy (Prov. 28:13).  Your Word also says that
if we claim to be without sin, we deceive our-
selves, and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8).

Help me, Lord!  I need Your truth in me!
Lord, I confess all my sins to You right now-
specifically-by name-and I thank You that
You are always faithful and just to forgive me
of all my sin and purify me from all
unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).  As a
believer in Your Son, Jesus Christ, I am
under grace, not under law (Rom 6:14).
Therefore, sin does not have
permission to be my master.

OBEDIENCE TO GOD IN A DIFFICULT

SITUATION WILL ULTIMATELY BEAR

FRUIT; EVEN THOUGH IT MIGHT

IMMEDIATELY CAUSE HARDSHIP.

Lord God, according to Your word, if I wholeheartedly commit whatever I do to You, my plans will succeed (Prov. 16:3).  I acknowledge that the heart of committing any plan to You is seeking Your plan.

Show me the right path, Father!

Please help me not to merely listen to the Word, and so deceive myself.  Help me to do what it says (James 1:22).  Your Word works, but if I am to experience it personally, I must be obedient.  I need Your help, Lord.

When Your words come to me, help me to eat them.  Make them my joy and my heart’s delight, for I bear Your name, Lord God Almighty (Jer. 15:16).  Increase my appetite for Your Word, my sufficiency!

Praying God’s Word 2

Another great devotional from Beth Moore from last week that is still lingering in my heart.  I just thought I’d share it.

WE WERE CREATED FOR THE PURPOSE OF GIVING CHRIST’S INVISIBLE CHARACTER A GLIMPSE OF VISIBILITY.

Lord, many have run this difficult race faithfully.  I want to be among them.

Therefore, since I am surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses,

help me throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles,

and help me run with perseverance the race marked out for me.

Help me to fix my eyes on You, Jesus, the author and perfecter of my faith,

who for the joy set before You endured the cross, scorning its shame,

and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God (Heb. 12:1-2).

As a bridegroom rejoices over his bride, so will you, My God, rejoice over me at Your appearing (Isa. 62:5).
