Thanksgiving Letters Part 1

Zach had a class assignment last week where he was supposed to write two people and let them know what he’s thankful for.  Here’s the one he wrote to me.

Dear Mom,

Thank you for everything you do for me.  You do a lot for me.  Thank you for helping me study for tests.  Like when you helped me study for my Social Studies test.  You also help me study for spelling tests.  Thank you for making a snack when I am hungry.  Like after school I am always hungry.  And just whenever I am hungry.  Thank you for washing my clothes so I will have something to wear.  You know I get mad when I have nothing to wear.  I am thankful for all of these things.

Sincerely,

Zach

More on dry socket

Yesterday I went back into the oral surgeons office to have the packing changed.  They asked me if I was ready to be done with it, and I’m jumping for the chance.  I ask, “how do you tell?”  I haven’t even taken any Ibuprofen and have been feeling good the past two days.  That’s when they told me there’s no science to it, it’s just trial and error.  They remove the packing, and I go home.  If the pain comes back, I go in and they pack it again.  Now this doesn’t sound right to me.  With all the advances in science and technology, why should we have to suffer some more?  Anyway, I was ready to be able to irrigate them myself, so I said I was ready.  She removed them, both of them were stuck this time, and that just reinforced my thoughts on being done with all of it by the way.

We left and went to Target to pick up a few stocking stuffers, milk and bread, and by the time we were leaving I was on the phone making an appointment to have the left side packed again.  The right side felt fine, until last night.  Now it’s hurting again, and I don’t want to call the Dr. again, I feel like a problem patient.  I don’t know if it’s the dry socket, or the uppers.  The whole right side hurts again.  I just want to cry

Cleaning

Monday was spent in the basement.  That’s where the washer and dryer is, except I couldn’t find them for the huge pile of laundry!  I spent the entire day doing laundry.  I figured out that I can start a load in the dryer, then throw a load of blankets in the washer and hang that up to dry when done, then throw another load of clothes in the washer, and the washer and dryer will be done around the same time.  No more waiting on my dryer to finish.  I washed 18 loads that way!  Only half of those did I run the dryer though.  The only thing I’ve folded and put away so far is the sheets and blankets.  The rest of the laundry is piled up on the loveseat in the family room, waiting on family folding fun night!!  It is a mountainous pile, almost reaching the ceiling!  Yesterday was spent running around, so I’m behind again on laundry.  Why does it never stop?

While I was down there, I cleaned up the area, and I’m making a scrapbook nook.  I’m so excited about it.  A designated spot for my stuff, and I don’t have to pack it away every time I need to stop.  It’s the little things…

Our Thanksgiving

Since Brooke and I had so much fun cooking Thanksgiving dinner last year, we wanted to do it again.  Saturday was the perfect day for it, and it turned out great.  We had dinner when Brian and Zach got home from hunting.  I didn’t go all out and bring the good China out, and I told everyone why.  I’d been standing in the kitchen all day and my feet hurt.  There was no way I was gonna stand in there half the night washing dishes.  It all turned out fine, and we still have lots of leftovers.  That reminds me, I need to start freezing some stuff.

Black Friday

This year I scoured the ads and couldn’t find anything that seemed worth my while to get up at 4 am and fight the crowds in the cold, so I slept in.  I don’t feel like I missed anything, as I did have to go out Friday afternoon to have my packing removed, and the traffic was still horrible.  I’ll try not to go into too much detail about my teeth, but the packing was stuck and there was great tugging involved in getting it to come out.  Then they were repacked!  Fun.

Thanksgiving

I just spent a long time filling you in on everything Thanksgiving, and the post was lost.  I have nothing!!!!!!!!!  Where did it go?

Here’s the synopsis.  Family……??  Food….++  I was finally able to eat real food!  I wanted leftovers so I cooked a Thanksgiving dinner for us on Saturday while Brooke and Matthew put the Christmas decorations up.
