My friend Amanda hosts a Mommy Tip Tuesday, which I think is a wonderful idea. Since everyone was sick, I’m just now getting around to posting.
My tip for today is to say yes. Sometimes it seems like all I ever say is no, don’t do that, don’t touch that, not right now… Ever feel like that too? Please say yes, or I’ll feel like an even worse mom!!
Back from my panic attack. I’m not saying give in to every little whim your kids might have, and go broke doing it. I am saying to say yes to an ice cream even when it’s close to bedtime, say yes to playing outside even when it’s sprinkling rain, say yes to ordering dessert at a restaurant, say yes to your daughter having red highlights (ha ha!), say yes to a sugary soda every now and then. I hope you get my point. It doesn’t sound like a hard thing to do, but when you’re in the middle of a hard day, or at the end of a long, hard day, it’s easier sometimes to say no. Try saying yes, and see the smile brighten their entire face! It’s one of those moments that makes you feel like you’re the best! So go on, live a little and say yes!
Ooh, this is one I have been working on for awhile now. I have to stop and ask myself, “What would be so bad if I said ‘yes’?” As a result, my daughter has covered her entire body with face paint crayons, gotten soaked fully dressed playing “mermaids” in the bathroom sink and has worn her princess dress out in public. There are some things that really don’t cause the walls to come crashing in!
