The greatest compliment

My husband hates spaghetti.  The kids and I love it.  It’s quick, easy and tasty.  We usually only have it when Brian’s out of town for business.  As most of you know, I’ve been couponing and trying to save money on the grocery bill lately.  Spaghetti is also a cheap meal when you have a coupon for the pasta and sauce, and score a great deal on the ground beef.  And do you know what?  (This is where the compliment comes in)  Brian said “this is the best spaghetti you’ve ever fixed!”.  Brooke started talking to me at the same time, and I had to hold up my hands to stop her.  I needed to revel in the moment.  So I asked him to say it again!  AND HE DID!  What makes this so spectacular, you ask?  We have been together for almost 16 1/2 years, and married for 14 this coming July.  That’s a lot of spaghetti.  (I used to fix it monthly until I decided it was not fair of me to ask him to eat it so often.)

The only thing I did differently is jazz up the plain old sauce with sauteed onions and garlic, and chopped up a can of Red Gold diced tomatoes with roasted onion and garlic.  I’ll have to do that again.  He actually started off with a small portion, and got a second helping.  I also made homemade breadsticks, garlic of course!  Anyway, I just had to share this wonderful compliment I received from my loving husband.

Shopping

Today I spent the majority of my time running around, and I hate to do that.  We first had to go to Target and pick up a few gifts, which turned out to be more than anticipated, so lucky I had a coupon.  I also needed to get some baking items.  I never know what to give to teachers for Christmas, but always feel obligated to.  Last year I made cranberry muffins and granola, so I thought I’d do the same since we have all new teachers.  Brooke has 5, and Zach has 1, then there are 4 teachers and the office manager at dance, and the list goes on.  I thought I’d make loaves of bread this time, so that’s what I’m doing now.  Waiting on four loaves to finish.  I then have 4 more in the fridge, but since I’m falling asleep, I think those can wait until morning.  I have laundry that needs to be done, a bedroom to pick up, floors to mop and vacuum, and furniture to move tomorrow too.  Basically, this post is about nothing, because I’m tired.  Please come back again, and I’ll try to have something good to say!  My timer’s going off now..

Turkey

trimmings I have spent some time reading the FAQ and the forums, and see that I am not the only one encountering problems uploading my pictures.  I found a few tips , and will now try them out.  I so want you to see my turkey!

Turkey

)food  Wow…lots of work, blood, sweat and tears later.  I can see them, and sure hope you can too.  Just looking at the pictures has made me very hungry.  Please excuse me while I go eat some left overs!

Happy Thanksgiving!

I have been trying for a few hours now to upload some food photos, and I have come to the conclusion that I am computer illiterate.  The only thing that I can accomplish is uploading the full photo.  It seems everyone who wants to do that on purpose, has trouble with only a thumbnail coming up.  I’ve tried, but now I need sleep.  In less than 4 hours I’ll be out in the cold for Black Friday.  Hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I’ll try to figure out the uploading stuff later today, and let you know how my first turkey was!
