Confession

“Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.  The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.”  James 5:16

Heaven is Real

“Thus saith the Lord, the heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool:  where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?”  Isaiah 66:1 KJV

“Now we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not built by human hands.”  2 Corinthians 5:1 NIV

“In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.”  Genesis 1:1 NASB

” Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.  But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”  Matthew 6:19-21 NIV

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.  I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband.”  Revelation 21:1-2 NIV

Max Lucado, Grace for the Moment

“Of all the blessings of heaven, one of the greatest will be you!  You will be God’s magnum opus, his work of art.  The angels will gasp.  God’s work will be completed.  At last, you will have a heart like his.  You will love with perfect love.  You will worship with a radiant face.  You’ll hear each word God speaks.  Your heart will be pure, your words will be like jewels, your thoughts will be like treasures.  You will be just like Jesus.  You will, at long last, have a heart like his.”

The Shack

OK, i told you guys about a phenomenal book a little while ago.  I just gave you a few spoilers, and now I’m gonna give you the inside scoop.  The Shack, written by William P. Young, is an absolute must read!  You will come away from it a different person, and with lots of questions about life.  Not really questions, but I found myself comparing things from my daily life to things in the book.  Oh, and you won’t be able to put the book down.  It is that good.

I was earmarking pages because I knew I would want to go back and re-read certain things.  When the first part of the book was all turned back, I just got out the trusty highlighter and started marking it up!  I want everyone I know to read this book, but they can’t use my copy!

Here comes the scoop, are you ready?  Ok, it’s really just the back of the book cover, but it’s that exciting.
Mackenzie Allen Philips’s youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness.  Four years later, in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend.

Against his better judgment he arives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare.  What he finds there will change Mack’s world forever.

In a world where religion seems to grow increasingly irrelevant, The Shack wrestles with the timeless question: Where is God in a world so filled with unspeakable pain?  The answers Mack gets will astound you and perhaps transform you as much as it did him.  You’ll want everyone you know to read this book!

See, I told you!  Go out and get this book.  Then come back here and let’s have a discussion about it!
What are you waiting for?  Go NOW!

Prayer for a child’s room

Lord, I invite Your Holy Spirit to dwell in this room, which belongs to ______________.  You are Lord over Heaven and earth, and I proclaim that You are Lord over this room as well.  Flood it with Your light and life.  Crowd out any darkness which seeks to impose itself here, and let no spirits of fear, depression, anger, doubt, anxiety, rebelliousness, or hatred find any place here.  I pray that nothing will come into this room that is not brought by You, Lord.  If there is anything here that should not be, show me so it can be taken out.

Put Your complete proptection over this room so that evil cannot enter here by any means.  Fill this room with Your love, peace and joy.  I pray that my child will say, as David in the Bible did, “i will walk within my house with a perfect heart.  I will set nothing wicked before my eyes”. (Psalm 101:2-3)  I pray that You, Lord, will make this room a holy place, sanctified for Your Glory.
From Power of a Praying Parent by Stormie O’Martian

You shall take the annointing oil and annoint the tabernacle and all that is in it and you shall hallow it an all it’s utensils, and it shall be holy.  Exodus 40:9

Last week I annointed rooms and said this prayer in my house.  I’ve been seeking the Lord much more closely, and satan is attacking because of it.  It’s ok when he comes after me, but when he goes after my kids, … well I let him know they are off limits to him.  I am prepared with the armor of God to fight him all the way.

GOD ALONE KNOWS THE ULTIMATE

OBJECTIVE TO WHICH HE ALIGNS

EVERY DIVINE ACT ON BEHALF

OF HIS CHILDREN.

Father, is is unthinkable that You would

do wrong.  How I thank You that the Almighty

would never pervert justice.

Who appointed You over the earth?

Who put You in charge of the whole world?

If it were Your intention and You withdrew Your Spirit and breath,

all mankind would perish together and man would

return to the dust (Job 34:12-15).

Instead, my Lord, You have promised that

Your plans for Your people are plans to prosper

and not to harm, plans to give us hope and a future (Jer. 29:11).

Who is like You, Lord-the One who sits

enthroned on high yet stoops down to look on

the heavens and the earth? (Ps. 113:5-6).

YOUR ENEMY IS STANDING

ON YOUR GOD-GIVEN GROUND

DARING YOU TO TAKE

POSESSION OF IT.

I will sing to You, Lord, for You are highly exalted.
The horse and its rider You have hurled into the sea!
You, Lord, are my strength and my song.
You have become my salvation.
You are my God and I will praise You.

You, Lord, are a warrior!  The Lord is Your name! (Exod. 15:1-3).

Your right hand, O God, is majestic in power.  Your right hand,
O Lord, shatters the enemy.  In the greatness of Your majesty, You will
throw down those who oppose You.  You will unleash Your
burning anger.  It will consume them like stubble (Exod. 15:6-7).

You are the Great I AM.  This is Your name forever! (Exod. 3:14-15).
my enemy cannot begin to stand against You.

Cardboard Testimony

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RvDDc5RB6FQ]I found this on a great faith filled site called A Walk Through the Valley, and just cried.  I’m still so shaken and moved by it, the song lyrics still running through my head.  What would my cardboard say?  Can I pin it down to one thing?   That’s hard.

Watch it and let me know how you feel.  What would your cardboard sign say?  Without Him and with Him.

Noah teaches us

Noah was a man that stood for righteousness in an unrighteous generation.  He lived in a time of incredible darkness in the world, yet he chose to walk in the light.  Surely he must have felt alone, but he was never forsaken.  Noah’s life was blessed by God’s grace.  The very same grace that God extended to Noah, He extends to us.  Can we do any less than to live for Him?

Noah was given an impossible task.  He was asked to collect two of every kind of animal on the planet and put them in the ark.  Can you even stop to imagine this for a minute?  How could he possibly do this?  He served our God, the great I AM, in which nothing is impossible.

He had to let go and let God.  Noah could not do the impossible task of collecting all those animals, but God could.  Noah just let go and let God bring the animals to him.  We can let go and let God!  I actually have a keychain that reminds me of that very phrase daily.  Is anything too hard for God?

Sin’s darkness is alive and well, but so is Jesus Christ.  We are the light of the world.  God sent a great light in the form of an infant child.  May you and I be faithful to walk in that Light as we seek to follow the Son!

Courage

I can remember being my daughters age.  My BFF Amy and I, whom I no longer am in contact with but that’s a whole nother story, would sit and watch horrible scary movies.  Freddie and Jason were on the screen alot.  We’d scream and laugh, cover our eyes and yell at the heroine not to go upstairs!

I guess you could say I had the living daylights scared out of me, and now I can’t stand to watch that kind of thing.  Give me a psychological thriller or romantic comedy anytime!

Brooke is into the scary movies now.  She has one little friend who loves to watch them too.  A few weeks ago they saw one, and Brooke slept with her light on for 4 days.  Her friend slept on the floor in her parents room.  We laughed and made fun of them, but I can remember that fear and anxiety.  I struggle with it myself at times.

When Brian travels away from home for business, it’s difficult for me to go to sleep.  I check and double check the doors to make sure they’re locked.  Every little noise seems amplified, and scary when he’s not here.  I’m alone and even more responsible for the safety of my children.  The night before last I really struggled with it.  And then I prayed for a hedge of protection, and gave my fears away.

I was once told that the Bible says Do not fear 365 times.  That’s once for each day of the year!  So I just wanted to share some of the verses I found that will bless you wth courage.

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you.  He will not leave you nor forsake you.”  Deuteronomy 31:6  NKJV

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have summoned you by name, you are mine.  When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.  When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.”  Isaiah 43:1-2 NIV

So we can choose courage and pray.  Ask God to give you courage, and then trust Him.  Last night I slept much better!

WE HAVE TO EXERCISE FAITH BEFORE

WE CAN BELIEVE WE ARE EVEN

CAPABLE OF LONG-TERM OBEDIENCE.

AND WE ARE!

Lord God, in my inner being I delight in

Your law.  But I see another law at work in the

members of my body, waging war against the

law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the

law of sin at work within my members.

How wretched I am!  Who will rescue me

from this body of death?

Thanks be to God-through Jesus Christ our Lord (Rom. 7:22-25).

Lord, You sent Your Son to rescue me from this body of death!

Set me free to new life in You!  I do not have to be a

prisoner to sin.

Please help me understand that the battle

which rages over my body originates in my mind.  Help

me surrender my mind to You and Your truth.
