Top Ten Reasons Why I Feel Old. Very Old.

I have a birthday coming up. Next week.

It’s not the BIG birthday, but it’s the one before the BIG one. ‘Nuff said.

I’m feeling old as of late, and here are some reasons why.

1. I have a decision to make. Embrace the grey hair or spend the money to cover it up. Honestly, I’ve tried to embrace it, and pluck it out with tweezers, and neither is really working for me.

2. This year Brian and I will celebrate our 18th wedding anniversary. Wow!!

3. My oldest baby has officially completed Drivers Ed and has her learners permit. (Deep breaths…Deep breaths) I still remember the feel  of her in my arms for the very first time.

4. My oldest son has had a growth spurt. We can look each other in the eyes now. I remember the first time I saw those beautiful eyes.

5. My youngest son is also growing so fast we can’t keep clothes that fit. I’m no longer able to pick him up. My baby.

6. My metabolism seems to have slowed to a turtle’s pace.

7. My knees creak when I walk up the stairs.

8. I used to be warm natured, and now I am always cold.

9. My vision is terrible!

10. As I sit here, I have a hot rice sock on my neck. I reached up to brush my hair this morning and pulled a muscle in my neck. How does this happen? I was trying to brush my hair!

Someone, please commiserate with me or tell me I’m youthful.

I try to remind myself of Proverbs, and how my gray hair is a symbol of wisdom, but it’s not working for me. Every time I see one in the mirror I have the urge to pull it out. Pretty soon I’ll be bald!

I turned the big 4-0 in 2010 and at first I was the same way as you but to tell ya the truth I have just embraced it and am enjoying being a bit older and wiser! :-) I use a little box of hair coloring, (grey hair just doesn’t go with my complexion yet) keep a small package of tissues with me at all times, (because I cry at the drop of a hat now) and believe it or not those crackles when I move have motivated me to move more!
My Gramma used to tell me that she was only as old as she felt! Some days I feel 40+ but for the most part I feel 21 again! 😉

I cry easily too! The McDonalds commercial with the birds in an apple tree made me cry the other day. My teenage son just shakes his head!

I just popped over here from twitter. I was thinking that I’m so much older than you, you may wish you were rooming with a younger person at Blissdom! So funny to see this post! I have about 5 years on you, so I know what you mean when you say you feel old. I think it’s how fast my kids are growing up that really gets me.

I don’t wish that at all! I think God has us right where He wants us. Looking forward to meeting you in real life!

I started getting gray hair at 22 so I know how you feel there–it is so hard to just leave it be. I have colored my hair forever but I wait too long in between so lots of sparkly grays show. It’s rather disheartening. :(
