Go visit Shannon for some great tips on what works for others. What works for me today is reusing water bottles. I have a 32 oz. sport bottle that I refill throughout the day. It’s easy for me to monitor how much I’m taking in, and I’m trying to do my part for the future of our world. Did you know that plastic bottles are recycled, but the caps aren’t? Yep, the caps are discarded, and often times end up in the oceans. From that point, they wind up in the stomachs of seals or birds, who eventually die from malnutrition because their stomach is full. From the green standpoint, if the average person drank 8 ounces of bottled water a day, it would take 1.5 million barrels of oil annually to satisfy America’s demand for bottled water. (Plastic is derived from petroleum.) If this oil were converted to gasoline, the total could fuel five hundred thousand station wagons for a coast to coast trip. Considering the price of a gallon of gas right now, I think I can reuse my water bottles! Try it and see if it works for you.
I have three water bottles that I use all the time. They are all recycled Powerade bottles. One sits on my desk at the office, one in the fridge at home, and one in my gym bag. It definitely works for me too!

Do you run them through the dishwasher? We have so many and I always wash them by hand.
There was an item on TV last night about reusing waterbottles.
People contaminate the opening with their mouths and then refill during the day. And those bacteria keep enjoying themselves!
Washing a bottle with washing up liquid removes the problem.
I already thought so.
So whenever a bottle is empty, it goes in a basket in the kitchen and a clean one can be taken.
The kids take a full one and a clean one to school, and return them both.

I have a jug that I just fill up from a gallon bottle everyday. I’m not as good about washing it as I should be, I suppose. Nothing growing in it yet anyway! lol! My gallon water bottle go in the recycle bin but I never did know what to do with the caps. Sometimes I toss them in with the bottles, sometimes I chuck ’em in the trash. I guess the trash is where they go anyway.
